Privacy policy
Last updated: September 27, 2026
This policy explains what information the Sagase app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Sagase is made by Hampus Hammarlund ("I", "me").
In short
- You don't need an account. Your lists, flashcard progress, and search history stay on your device.
- To improve the app, Sagase collects basic usage analytics and crash reports through Google Firebase. They are linked to a random ID, not to your name or email.
- You can disable them during onboarding or at any time in Settings.
- I don't sell your data, and Sagase doesn't show ads.
Information stored on your device
Your lists, flashcard progress, search history, and settings are stored only on your device. They are not sent to me or anyone else. You can clear your search history in Settings, and uninstalling the app removes all of this data. If you use the export feature, the backup file is saved wherever you choose and stays under your control.
Usage analytics
When analytics is turned on, Sagase uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the app is used, such as which features are popular and where the app can be improved. It collects:
- a randomly generated app instance ID
- standard app events, such as when the app is opened, session length, and app updates
- device and app details, such as device model, operating system version, app version, and language
- your approximate country or region, estimated from your IP address
What you search for or type in the app is not included. Google Analytics does not store your IP address, and analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
Crash reports
When crash reporting is turned on, Sagase uses Firebase Crashlytics to send a report if the app crashes, so I can find and fix the problem. A crash report contains technical details about the error, a random installation ID, your device model and operating system version, device state such as available memory and disk space, and the app version. Crash reports are kept for 90 days.
Handwriting and text recognition
Handwriting recognition and scanning text with your camera or from a photo use Google ML Kit. The characters you draw and the images you scan are processed on your device and are not uploaded. The handwriting recognition model is downloaded from Google the first time you use it, and ML Kit sends Google basic diagnostic information, such as device model, operating system version, and performance metrics, to keep the feature working. The camera is only used when you choose to scan text.
Dictionary downloads
Sagase downloads its dictionary data when you first set it up and when updates are available. As with any file download, the server providing the files receives your IP address to deliver them. These downloads are not used to track you.
Service providers
Analytics, crash reporting, and text recognition are provided by Google, which processes this data on my behalf. You can read how Google handles it in the Firebase privacy information and Google's privacy policy. If you download Sagase from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store, those stores also handle data under their own privacy policies.
Your choices
- Turn off collection: switch off "Analytics collection" or "Crash report collection" in Settings at any time. Nothing more is collected from that point on.
- Delete analytics data: in Settings, choose "Delete analytics data". The app copies your random ID and opens a request form, and the data linked to that ID will then be deleted.
- Delete local data: clear your search history in Settings, or uninstall the app.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to how it is used. To make a request, contact me at the address below. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Sagase is a general audience app and is not directed at children under 13. I don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
